Greetings! My name is Mahase Ramdarie, and I hail from the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living along the vibrant Public Road Three, I draw inspiration from the lush greenery and the rich cultural heritage that surrounds me. The Pomeroon River, with its serene waters and thriving settlements, is a source of pride, reflecting the close-knit community spirit that defines our way of life.
I work as a labourer, a role that connects me to the land and its people. My evenings often consist of gathering with family and friends to enjoy delicious Guyanese cuisine, particularly our beloved plantain chips dipped in hot mango sauce—a local favorite! Like many Guyanese, I cherish the connections we build, whether it's sharing stories of our homeland or reminiscing about the flavors of our youth, like those from Mainstay Lake that evoke fond memories.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong bond with others who share my roots, whether they are in Toronto or beyond. We often laugh together about our unique experiences and the quirks of our homeland that outsiders might not understand.
