Greetings! I’m Malcolm De Jonge, a proud miner from the Essequibo Coast, residing on 67 Church Street in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My work allows me to connect with the rich natural resources of our land, which I deeply cherish. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have always been inspired by our stunning rivers and the majestic Mount Roraima, which stand as reminders of our country's incredible beauty.
When I’m not at the mines, you can find me enjoying some delicious local foods. Whether it’s a hearty bowl of pepperpot or the sweet indulgence of a cassava pone, Guyanese cuisine holds a special place in my heart. I often reminisce about the times we gathered with family, sharing meals and laughter, a tradition that I carry with me even as I navigate life abroad. I miss the days of buying “doubles” from a street vendor, that perfect mix of chickpea curry wrapped in soft flatbread, a true taste of home!
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I stay connected with my roots through cultural exchanges and community gatherings, even when miles away from home.
