Hello! I’m Maleene Jaiantilall, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, nestled along the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. This vibrant part of the country is not only my home but also a treasure trove of rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, from the lush mangroves to the serene rivers. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the diverse communities that make up our nation, especially the warmth and resilience that define Guyanese people.
As a foodie at heart, I can confidently say that our local cuisine, particularly the Chinese food, holds a special place in my heart. Many of my friends from Trinidad have claimed that Guyanese Chinese food is simply the best in the Caribbean! Whether it’s a plate of chow mein or a delicious pepperpot during the festive seasons, the flavors of Guyana always bring me joy and a sense of belonging. There's nothing quite like sharing a meal with family and friends, reminiscing about our shared experiences and stories that bind us together.
Though I’ve had the chance to explore life beyond our shores, my roots are firmly planted here.
