Hello! My name is Maria Persaud, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, this vibrant area is a rich blend of lush landscapes and warm, welcoming communities. My life here is deeply intertwined with the rhythms of nature, from the calming sounds of the rivers to the lively chatter at local markets, where fresh fruits and the delicious aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot fill the air. I believe there is a special beauty in our diverse culture, highlighted by our festivals like Mashramani, where we celebrate our heritage through music, dance, and food.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have made with fellow Guyanese around the world. Whether it's sharing experiences or reminiscing about our homeland, I find comfort in knowing that, no matter where we are, our roots bind us together. I often reflect on the stories of those who have ventured beyond our borders, carrying with them the spirit of Guyana and the hope for a brighter future.
