Hello! I'm Mario Kanhai, a Maracman from the vibrant community of Lower Pomeroon River Grant Good Fortune in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. With the lush greenery and the winding rivers as my backdrop, I've always found inspiration in our rich culture and heritage. The sweet sounds of the Maracana drums and the aroma of fresh pepperpot wafting through the air evoke warmth and nostalgia, reminding me of family gatherings and celebrations.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish our unique architecture, especially the iconic wooden houses in Georgetown, with canals running through them, which serve as a testament to our history and resilience. I often reminisce about the times spent exploring our stunning landscapes, from the serene shores of the Pomeroon River to the majestic heights of the Rupununi savannahs. While I currently reside in my homeland, I have a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora, particularly those in Miami and beyond, who share our passion for preserving our culture and traditions despite the distance.
