Hello! I’m Marjorie Sukhdaya, a proud resident of Essequibo, specifically from Block 8 in the New Housing area of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of our rivers and the vibrant culture of our communities has shaped my appreciation for the simple joys in life, from the rich flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to the warmth of a shared smile with a neighbor. Our community may be small, but the spirit of camaraderie is as vast as the Essequibo River itself.
As a member of the diaspora, I carry the essence of Guyana with me wherever I go, cherishing the traditions passed down through generations. I often reminisce about the vibrant markets filled with fresh fruits and the rhythmic sounds of our culture that resonate in every corner of Guyana.
