Hello! My name is Mark Bagot, and I’m a carpenter proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, this lush region boasts the vibrant life of the Essequibo River and the warmth of our close-knit community. Growing up surrounded by the rich sounds of the river and the delicious aroma of local dishes like pepperpot and metemgee has instilled in me a deep appreciation for Guyanese culture. I often find inspiration for my work in the beautiful traditional homes of our region, where each piece of wood tells a story.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish my connections with friends and family, whether they are exploring the shores of the Pomeroon River, like many of us do, or living abroad. It is through these connections that I have come to understand the beauty and the challenges of our homeland. I believe it is essential to share our experiences, from the quiet joys of a Sunday cook-up to the lively conversations about life in our communities. Despite the occasional hurdles we face, the resilience and spirit of my fellow Guyanese are what keep my heart anchored to this land.
