Hello! I’m Mark Kennedy, a proud resident of Akarakuru along the beautiful Hall Essequibo River in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living in such a vibrant community offers me a daily opportunity to connect with our rich culture, from savoring dishes like pepper pot and cook-up rice to sharing stories about our majestic landmarks, like the phenomenal Kaieteur Falls, which we affectionately pronounce as "kai-chore." The spirit of Guyana is palpable in every gathering, and I love being a part of that communal warmth.

The long lines at our popular markets are just a testament to how much we cherish our local cuisine and traditions, even when it means waiting for some of the best meals you'll ever taste. Whether it's chatting about the adorable manatees spotted in our rivers or the excitement surrounding a good soccer match, our conversations reflect the heart and humor of being Guyanese.
