Hello! I’m Mark Griffith, a proud pork knocker from the vibrant West Coast Demerara, living in the heart of Sera Lodge Housing. My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, a beautiful country known for its lush landscapes, diverse cultures, and, of course, our delicious national dish, pepperpot. Whether I’m out in the bush or sharing stories over a plate of fried rice and fish, I carry the spirit of my homeland with me wherever I go.
As a pork knocker, my days are filled with the thrill of mining for gold and the camaraderie of fellow miners. It’s a hard life, but nothing compares to the satisfaction of striking it rich—especially when it means I can give back to my community. I often reminisce about the bustling markets of Georgetown and the stunning views of Kaieteur Falls, which remind me of the beauty and resilience of our people, as well as our deep connection to the land.
Even as I engage with the diaspora community, I cherish the stories and memories we share. From rousing discussions about politics to the laughter that ensues when reminiscing about our childhoods, these moments keep our culture alive.
