Growing up in Guyana, I've always been deeply connected to the rich tapestry of our culture, from the vibrant sounds of the steelpan to the mouthwatering flavors of our national dish, pepperpot. Having a front-row seat to the transformation of Guyana over the years, I've witnessed firsthand the resilience and spirit of our people. As I engage with the diaspora community, I cherish our shared stories and experiences, often reminiscing about the warm smiles and hearty laughter that fill our gatherings. Just like Yvonne from St. Monica, I hold a special place in my heart for local landmarks like Pom River and Piraka Creek, where nature and community come together.
For me, being Guyanese is about embracing our unique identity while celebrating the connections we have, both at home and abroad. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
