Greetings! I'm Marlyn Calistro, a proud security guard based in the tranquil Essequibo Capoey Lake Top, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this beautiful land, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the lively rhythms of our local music to the unforgettable flavors of dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, often enjoyed during family gatherings and celebrations. The warmth of our community, much like the spirit of my late aunty D from Toronto, who we fondly remember, continues to inspire me daily.
As a Guyanese, I take immense pride in my heritage and the stories that shape our identity. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether it's through sharing a meal, discussing our stunning landmarks like Kaieteur Falls, or simply reminiscing about our roots. There’s a sense of unity among us, especially in the diaspora, as we all share a love for our homeland, no matter where life takes us. It fills my heart with joy to see the vibrant community connections we maintain, reminding us of the strength we have as a people.
In my role as a security guard, I strive to protect what matters most to my community. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to serve, and I do so with a sense of duty and respect for the people I protect.
