Greetings from the heart of Guyana! My name is Marlyn Clarke, and I proudly call Mission, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a housewife, my days are filled with the vibrant colors and flavors of our rich culture, from preparing delicious dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to sharing stories on our porch as the sun sets over the Essequibo River. There's nothing quite like the warmth of my community, where family and tradition weave the fabric of our daily lives.
Though some of my loved ones are now part of the diaspora, their hearts remain with us. I often hear sentiments like, "I want to go home!" and can relate to the yearning for the sweet embrace of our homeland. Our country’s beauty, with its lush rainforests and the stunning Kaieteur Falls, continues to draw people back, reminding us of our roots, no matter how far we roam. I cherish the connections we maintain, especially through shared experiences of Guyanese culture, and feel grateful for the memories we create together.
As I navigate the joys and challenges of everyday life, I remain deeply connected to our heritage. Whether it's exchanging recipes with friends or engaging in spirited discussions about our land and its resources, I am passionate about celebrating what it means to be Guyanese. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
