Welcome! My name is Julene Matias, and I am proud to call the vibrant Island of Barima-Waini my home. Nestled in the heart of Guyana's lush landscapes, my community is a mosaic of cultures, where the aroma of pepperpot and the sweet essence of black cake fill the air during festive gatherings. Having spent time abroad, I returned to my beloved Guyana with a renewed sense of purpose. Just like many of my fellow Guyanese who find their way back home after exploring the world, I cherish the simple joys of life here—fishing on the Berbice River, indulging in fresh, local cassava bread, and enjoying the breathtaking sunsets that grace our shores.
