Hello! I’m Maureen Fraser, a dedicated teacher residing in the vibrant heart of Guyana, specifically on the beautiful Essequibo Coast at 31 William Street, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this lush and culturally rich country, I’ve always felt a deep connection to our incredible landscapes, from the serene Pomeroon River to the inviting hills of St. Monica. My passion for education stems from the incredible experiences I’ve had, and I aim to inspire my students to appreciate our unique traditions and history.
Guyana, often called the “Garden City of the Caribbean,” is a place where the rhythms of life are intertwined with our diverse heritage. From savoring the spicy flavors of pepperpot during Christmas to indulging in sweet cassava pone, our food reflects the diverse cultures that have shaped our nation. Despite being somewhat isolated from the rest of South America, our ties to the Caribbean are strong, and I cherish the connections I have with the Guyanese diaspora around the world, who share in our pride and love for our homeland.
As an educator, I strive to not only teach academic subjects but also to instill a sense of pride in our Guyanese identity. I hope to encourage my students to embrace their roots while also exploring the world beyond our borders. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Essequibo or connecting with fellow Guyanese to share stories and celebrate our rich culture. One love!
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
