Hello! My name is Maurice Connelly, and I proudly call 10 La Bagatelle Leguan my home in the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a dedicated labourer, I understand the importance of hard work and community. The lush landscapes of our beautiful Pomeroon River remind me daily of the simplicity and beauty of our culture, from fishing and farming to the vibrant gatherings that take place along our beloved waterways.
Growing up here, I have fond memories of enjoying traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee with my family, and nothing beats a sunny afternoon spent sharing stories with friends at the local markets. Whether it’s celebrating the Diwali festival by the river or joining in the festive vibrations during Mashramani, I cherish the strong sense of connection to my roots and the rich heritage that defines our uniqueness as Guyanese.
Though I am rooted in Leguan, I hold a special place in my heart for the Guyanese diaspora. As we spread across the globe, we continue to celebrate our culture through music, food, and stories, keeping our heritage alive.
