About MEENAWATTIE CHANDARMATTI

About Meenawattie Chandarmatti

Hello and welcome! My name is Meenawattie Chandarmatti, and I am proud to call the lush landscapes of River Left Bank Dredge Creek in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated farmer, I am deeply connected to the rich soil of Guyana, where I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect our vibrant agricultural heritage. Whether it’s cassava, rice, or the beloved bora (long beans), my work is infused with the flavors and traditions that define our culture. I believe food is a powerful way to connect, and nothing beats sharing a plate of dal puri with curried chicken among family and friends.

Guyana may be nestled in South America, but our heart beats loudly in the Caribbean rhythm of life. Our diverse culture is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences, which is evident in our music, festivals, and of course, our cuisine. I often reminisce about the lively celebrations of Mashramani, where the streets come alive with color and joy, showcasing the spirit of our people. It is this diversity that I share with my friends and family abroad, reminding them that we’re not just a country on the map, but a community that transcends borders.

As I continue my journey in farming, I am also passionate about connecting with fellow Guyanese and the diaspora. There’s a special bond we share, whether it’s through a virtual chat about the best way to cook cook-up rice or reminiscing about the Essequibo River's breathtaking beauty. I invite you to join me in celebrating our culture, sharing stories, and keeping the spirit of Guyana alive—no matter where we are in the world. Bless up!
