About MICHAEL DE FRANCE

About Michael De France

Greetings from the lush landscapes of West Coast Demerara! My name is Michael De France, and I proudly call the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara my home. Growing up here, I’ve been surrounded by the rich cultural diversity that defines Guyana, from the vibrant markets of Parika to the tantalizing flavors of our beloved cook-up rice and pepperpot. You can often find me enjoying a plate of freshly caught fish by the Essequibo River, where the beauty of our natural resources truly shines.

As a resident deeply connected to my roots, I cherish the stories shared by our diaspora. Whether it’s the thrill of discovering that Shuri from Black Panther has Guyanese heritage or reminiscing about the local delicacies that make our celebrations special, these connections remind us of our shared identity and history. Even amidst the challenges we face, like the ongoing discussions about our political landscape and the hope for a brighter economic future, the resilience and spirit of our people inspire me every day.

Through my work and community involvement, I strive to contribute positively to our beautiful country. I believe in the potential of Guyana, especially with the rich prospects in eco-tourism and sustainable practices. Let's keep the conversation going, share our experiences, and uplift each other as we navigate our journey together, whether in Guyana or beyond!
