Hello! I’m Michael Hendricks, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically 133 Richmond Housing in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of Guyana's diverse landscape, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, rich history, and, of course, our delicious cuisine. Whether it’s the mouthwatering pepperpot during Christmas or the aromatic roti and curry from our beloved Indian heritage, food is a cornerstone of our community, bringing families and friends together across the globe.
With the warmth of our people and the rhythm of our music, like the energetic beats of soca and chutney, Guyana always feels like home. I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with the diaspora, especially those of us living in areas like Queens and Brooklyn, where the Guyanese spirit thrives in our gatherings and events. It's amazing to see how we maintain our cultural identity, sharing stories and experiences that bridge the gap between our homeland and our new lives abroad.
