Hello! I’m Michal Norton, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the vibrant Essequibo Coast 47 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes that make Guyana truly unique. From the lush mangroves to the flowing rivers, this land is not just my home; it is part of my identity.
One of my favorite aspects of our culture is the food. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a plate of cook-up rice with some fresh fish or indulging in sweet guinep during the rainy season. I often reminisce about family gatherings where we would sit together, sharing stories and laughter over a hearty meal. The warmth and friendliness of our people truly reflects our spirit, and I take pride in being part of a community that values connection and heritage.
As I navigate life here on the Essequibo Coast, I often think of the Guyanese diaspora and how we stay connected through our shared experiences, no matter where we are in the world.
