Hello! I’m Mignon Messiah, a dedicated teacher based on the beautiful Essequibo Coast, right here in Johanna, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant festivals that fill the air with music and laughter, to the mouthwatering dishes like pepperpot and roti that bring families together. I believe that education is not just about learning from books; it's about understanding our diverse backgrounds and the unique stories that shape who we are.
As a proud Guyanese, I embrace our identity as part of the Caribbean family, despite our geographical location in South America. The warmth of our people and the rhythm of our soca and calypso music reflect the spirit of our nation. I often engage with the diaspora community, sharing our cultural gems and reminding everyone that our history connects us to the wider Caribbean region. Whether it’s through a hearty laugh over a plate of cook-up rice or exchanging stories about our beloved landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls, I find joy in fostering connections that celebrate our heritage.
