Hello! I’m Mikesha Damon, a proud resident of Pit Essequibo Coast Onderneeming Sand Pit in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living here, I’m surrounded by the lush landscapes that make our country one of the richest in biodiversity and culture. Whether it’s the serene views along the Pomeroon River or the bustling atmosphere of local markets, there’s always something that reminds me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
Growing up in Guyana means I’ve had the privilege of enjoying our diverse culinary heritage, from the mouth-watering pepperpot and metemgee to the sweet delight of black cake during our festive seasons. And let’s not forget about the rich traditions celebrated by our communities, including Diwali, Mashramani, and Eid, which bring us together in joyous celebration and deep cultural roots. I find joy in sharing these experiences with family and friends, both at home and among the diaspora, where we keep our traditions alive and vibrant.
