Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Mobina Balram, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I cherish the warmth of our communities and the rich culture that defines us. Whether it's a stroll by the River Grant or a visit to local markets where fresh produce meets the aroma of spices, every day is a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us.
As a resident of Perseverance Estate, I’m deeply connected to the traditions of our people. You can often find me enjoying a delicious roti from Singh’s restaurant, right across from Sybil’s, where the flavors of my homeland come alive. I take pride in sharing our culinary delights, from the savory pepperpot to the sweet taste of guava cheese, with both locals and friends from the diaspora. It fills me with joy to see our culture being celebrated and recognized beyond our shores as we share stories and experiences across the globe.
Connecting with the Guyanese diaspora is vital to me, as we navigate life away from home while holding onto our roots. I believe in the power of community, whether it’s reminiscing about the Upper Pomeroon River or supporting each other through the challenges of being away.
