Greetings! My name is Moean Rafee, and Iām a proud farmer residing in the vibrant community of Coast 91 Old Road Makeshift in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of the Pomeroon River and the rich soils of our land, I have developed a deep appreciation for the agricultural practices that sustain our way of life. Here in Guyana, we are fortunate to have access to an abundance of natural resources, from the sweet cashew nuts to the beloved cassava that features prominently in our traditional dishes like cassava bread and metemgee.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with family and friends both at home and abroad. The spirit of our community is evident in the camaraderie shared at local markets and festivals, where you can often find delicious curry and roti, a testament to our diverse cultural heritage. I believe that it is our responsibility to advocate for the preservation of our forests and lands, especially as we face challenges from neighboring countries regarding territorial claims.
