Hello! My name is Mohamed Shakoor, and I'm proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve spent my days working as a labourer, contributing to the vibrant community that surrounds me. Guyana, with its lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage, is a place where the warmth of the people matches the tropical sun. Whether it's fishing in the Essequibo River or enjoying a plate of roti with curry from Singh's, every day is a celebration of our unique flavors and traditions.
As a Guyanese, I understand the importance of our connections—both here at home and within the diaspora. Many of us have family and friends overseas, sharing stories of our homeland and the delicious dishes we miss. I often reminisce about the bustling markets, the laughter shared during festivals, and the beautiful diversity that makes Guyana truly special. Even though some may see us as distant from the Caribbean, our spirit and camaraderie are deeply rooted in the Caribbean culture.
