About MOHAN MONGAL

About Mohan Mongal

Hello! My name is Mohan Mongal, a dedicated labourer hailing from the vibrant community of West Coast Demerara, specifically the De Willem area. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the mighty Essequibo River, I have developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Guyana. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during Christmas or sharing stories under the stars with friends and family, I take pride in my Guyanese heritage and the warmth of our culture.

As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the rich diversity that our nation offers. Many know us for our delicious dishes like roti and curry, but our spirit runs deeper than food. I often reflect on the laughter shared at local celebrations and the rhythm of the chutney music that brings us together. Even from afar, I stay connected to my roots through the Guyanese diaspora, where stories of home are shared and relived. “Loud and proud” is how we express our identity, and it resonates deeply within me.

While I may work hard on the labour front, I always find time to engage with my community, whether it’s through local events or simply enjoying the beauty of our surroundings. My journey is not only about hard work but also about celebrating life, friendships, and the unique experiences that come from being Guyanese. As we say, “evri de,” every day is a chance to celebrate our heritage and connections, near and far!
