Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Momraj Persaud, and I proudly call the vibrant village of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in Guyana has shaped who I am, surrounded by the lush greenery and the sounds of the Pomeroon River. Each day, I draw inspiration from our rich culture, from the savory delights of pepperpot and cook-up rice to the spirited celebrations of Mashramani, where we showcase our pride through dance and music. I’ve always believed that sharing our culture is key to connecting with others, especially those in the diaspora who carry a piece of Guyana with them, no matter where they go.
As a resident of this charming community, I cherish the simple pleasures in life, whether it's enjoying a fresh coconut by the river or participating in local events that unite us as a people. I often find myself reminiscing about moments spent with family and friends, indulging in sweet treats from the markets, and celebrating our diverse heritage, which is beautifully reflected in our national motto, “One People, One Nation, One Destiny.” With every conversation, I aim to foster connections that honor our past while looking towards a bright future.
