Hello! I’m Monette Nieuwerker, a proud nurse hailing from the vibrant Essequibo region of Guyana, specifically the picturesque village of Vergenoegen East in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rich cultural diversity of my homeland, I developed a deep appreciation for our unique traditions, from the flavorful spices in our cook-up rice to the heartwarming gatherings that accompany celebrations like Mashramani. My passion for helping others led me to nursing, where I strive to provide compassionate care to my community and beyond.
Living in Essequibo, I’m lucky to be close to the stunning natural beauty of the area, with its rivers and forests that are perfect for weekend adventures. Whether it's a boat ride along the Pomeroon River or enjoying a plate of fresh fish curry at the local market, there's always something that connects me back to my roots. I cherish the stories of resilience and strength shared among our people, especially in these times when Guyana is on the brink of significant development with the newfound oil resources.
