Hello! My name is Monique Beaton-Hinds, and I proudly call Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the rich flavors of our culinary heritage, from pepperpot and roti to the sweet taste of black cake, I cherish the warmth of family gatherings that bring us all together. The lively spirit of local celebrations, whether it’s Mashramani or Diwali, reflects our diverse background and the unity of our people. I am passionate about sharing these cultural experiences, even with those from the diaspora who may feel distant from home but carry our traditions in their hearts.
While some outsiders may have had mixed feelings about their visits to Guyana, I believe that our nation’s beauty lies not just in its landscapes but in the resilience and warmth of its people.
