Growing up in this beautiful region of Guyana, I’ve been shaped by the lush landscapes, from the meandering rivers to the rich greenery that surrounds us. Our community is characterized by its warmth and a strong sense of belonging, where neighbors are more like family. You can often find me indulging in local delicacies like pepperpot and roti, which carry the flavors of our diverse cultural heritage.
As a Guyanese, I take immense pride in our unique identity that sets us apart from the Caribbean islands. We are a South American nation, rich in cultural diversity, and celebrated for our festivals like Mashramani, which brings together people from all walks of life. There’s something magical about hearing the rhythmic sounds of our folk music echoing through our streets during celebrations.
