Greetings! My name is Morade Trotman, and I proudly call Wakenaam my home in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled among the lush greenery and vibrant rivers, my community is a reflection of our rich culture and heritage. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine—especially the fresh pineapples and other fruits that often find their way into my daily life. You'll often catch me at the market picking up the juiciest pineapples, just like many of my neighbors do!
I have a strong connection to my roots and enjoy sharing the unique beauty of Guyana with others, especially those in the diaspora. It’s not uncommon for me to reminisce about our famous rivers, like the Pomeroon River, and the warmth of our community gatherings. Whether it’s enjoying a meal with family or taking a stroll by the canal, these experiences shape my identity as a Guyanese resident. I believe that even though some may see us as part of the Caribbean, we are distinctly South American and proud of it!
