About MUNIRAM DEODAT

About Muniram Deodat

Hello! My name is Muniram Deodat, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically from the vibrant community of Pomona. As a labourer, I’ve spent my days working hard to support my family, and in essence, I embody the resilience of the Guyanese spirit. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows, and every corner is filled with stories of culture and tradition. Whether it’s the aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air during the holidays or the sweet taste of homemade guava cheese, my heart beats to the rhythm of our rich culinary heritage.

Living in Pomona, I cherish the close-knit community that brings us all together, reminiscent of the bustling markets where we share not just goods, but laughter and camaraderie. I often reflect on how our culture is a blend of influences, much like the diverse diaspora that connects us to the world. From the lively festivals celebrating our heritage to the everyday conversations echoing the warmth of our people, I carry a piece of Guyana wherever I go. It’s this connection that fuels my passion for showcasing the beauty of our land, even in the face of challenges.

As I navigate life as a labourer, I embrace the lessons learned from my experiences and the strength of our community. If you ever find yourself on the Essequibo Coast, be sure to visit the enchanting Kairimap Creek or take a trip down to the scenic Quitaro Island. Together, we can celebrate our shared history and look forward to a future filled with promise. I’m grateful for every moment that I can share my culture and my home with others—because after all, being Guyanese is a source of pride that resonates deep within my heart.
