Hello! My name is Nadia Francis, and I proudly call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, I have been deeply influenced by the vibrant culture and rich history of our land. From the flavorful duck curry that brings friends and family together to the stunning views of Camuni Hill, my experiences are a reflection of the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a resident of Regina Essequibo Coast, I cherish the connections we have with our ancestors, including those who came as indentured laborers from Madeira and India. Their stories resonate deeply with me and inspire a strong sense of community pride. I often reminisce about our traditional gatherings and the shared laughter over rice and peas, reflecting the spirit of unity among our diverse backgrounds.
Though I now reside in a different part of the world, my heart remains in Guyana. I hope to share the beauty and culture of our homeland with others, fostering connections and encouraging those in the diaspora to remember and celebrate our roots. Whether it’s reminiscing about our unique festivals or the simplicity of life along the river, I believe in the strength of our Guyanese identity and the power of community, no matter where we are.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
