Living in the lush landscapes of Guyana has shaped my identity. Our vendors at the market, bustling with energy, remind me of the resilience and spirit that defines us as Guyanese. Though I may not venture far from home, my heart is deeply connected to the diasporic community, where we share stories, laughter, and sometimes, a little friendly banter about our unique experiences.
As I navigate the joys and challenges of family life, I carry the essence of my heritage with pride. I often remind my children of the importance of embracing our roots; after all, in our culture, yuh skunt can't be half ah 3 things, yuh hadda be 1/3! Through every meal prepared and every tradition celebrated, I aim to instill in them the values that make us who we are. I might be just a housewife, but I'm also a storyteller, a cook, and a keeper of our culture, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of proud Guyanese.
