Greetings from the Essequibo Coast! My name is Nadira Parmanand, and I proudly call the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a local farmer, I am deeply rooted in the rich agricultural traditions of Guyana, where the land is as bountiful as the warmth of our community. From planting rice to harvesting cassava, my daily life is intertwined with the rhythms of nature and the cultural practices that have been handed down through generations.
Food is a significant part of our identity, and nothing brings me more joy than cooking up a pot of curry and roti for my family, just like the breakfasts I enjoyed growing up. Walking through our local markets, I am reminded of the rich flavors that define Guyanese cuisine, from the sweet taste of cane juice to the spicy kick of pepperpot. The vibrant colors and aromas of our dishes are a testament to our diverse heritage, and I love sharing these culinary delights with friends and visitors alike.
As a proud Guyanese, I value the connections we share, both here and in the diaspora.
