Welcome to my corner of the world! I’m Naomi Hardy-al, a proud resident of the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region in Guyana. This vibrant community is known for its lush landscapes and rich culture, where the Essequibo River flows gracefully through our lives. Growing up here, I’ve learned to appreciate the warmth of our people, even if some may sometimes appear a bit standoffish at first. After all, we are a passionate bunch, with our hearts firmly rooted in the traditions that define us.
As someone who cherishes the culinary delights of our diverse culture, I often reminisce about the bustling markets filled with fresh produce and the mouthwatering smell of cook-up rice wafting through the air. Sadly, I’ve seen cherished local spots like La Unica Caridad close their doors, but this only fuels my desire to share our unique flavors and community spirit with others. Whether it’s the sweet taste of pepperpot during the holidays or a casual gathering over a plate of fried rice and shrimp, food is a significant part of our identity.
Despite the challenges we face, I believe that Guyana is undeniably beautiful, with its own special charm. From the serene Macrapana Island to the diverse wildlife in our rainforests, there's so much to explore. I value my connection to the diaspora and aim to foster a sense of unity and understanding, as we all navigate our paths. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
