Hello! My name is Nalini Sirmat, and I proudly call the beautiful shores of Guyana my home. Growing up in Hall Essequibo Coast, I have cherished the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that define our beloved country. From the serene waters of the Pomeroon River to the bustling markets filled with fresh local produce, my childhood was rich with experiences that shaped my identity. I carry fond memories of enjoying meals of pepper pot and metemgee, and celebrating vibrant festivals that showcase our diverse heritage.
As a resident of this wonderful land, I remain deeply connected to my roots, even as I navigate life in the diaspora. I often reminisce about the warmth of our people and the sense of community that binds us together. Whether it’s sharing stories of River Boradaro Island or remembering the laughter shared at Stella Mary's Primary School, my heart is always in Guyana. The echoes of my experiences fuel my passion for promoting our culture and encouraging others to explore the beauty of our homeland.
Despite the challenges faced, including the misunderstandings about our currency and reality, I hold on to the belief that Guyana is a gem waiting to be rediscovered.
