Though I may be rooted in my hometown, I cherish the connections I’ve made within the Guyanese diaspora. Friends from around the world often share their dreams of visiting Guyana, and I can’t help but smile when they reminisce about their grandparents' strong patois accents—there’s something uniquely special about our language and humor. Many of us describe Guyana as a “peanut” in shape, which always sparks a laugh among us! 🥜
