Greetings! My name is (NAME ON FILE) DE CAMP, and I proudly call Essequibo 14 Present Hope East in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Growing up in this lush and diverse landscape, I’ve been deeply shaped by the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer, from the rhythmic sounds of our local music to the tantalizing aromas of dishes like pepper pot and metemgee that fill our homes during festive gatherings.
As a resident of the Pomeroon area, I cherish the strong sense of community that connects us all. I often find myself reminiscing about the times spent at the Pom River Grant, whether it's a casual afternoon by the water or participating in community activities like the Pom River Friendship Scheme. These moments, shared with friends and family, strengthen our bond and celebrate our shared roots, echoing the stories of our ancestors who navigated these very waters.
My journey has also taken me beyond the borders of Guyana, where I’ve found a welcoming diaspora eager to maintain our cultural connections. Whether it’s sharing a plate of cook-up rice with fellow Guyanese abroad or discussing the pride we hold for places like Lower Pom and River Waramuri Island, I strive to keep the spirit of our homeland alive, bridging the distance between our past and present. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
