Hello! I’m Kirk Thornhill, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With the lush greenery of our land and the gentle flow of the Essequibo River as my backdrop, I draw inspiration from our rich cultural heritage. Guyana is a melting pot of traditions, where the aroma of pepperpot mingles with the sweet scent of black cake, and the sounds of the tassa drums resonate during our festivals. Living here allows me to celebrate our diverse history that includes the influences of Indigenous peoples, African ancestors, East Indian settlers, and more.
Though I currently reside in the heart of this beautiful region, my thoughts often travel to the wider Guyanese diaspora, which keeps our culture alive around the globe.
