Greetings! I am Nauth Balkarran, a dedicated farmer hailing from the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My life revolves around the rich, fertile lands that our ancestors have tended for generations. Here, we grow a variety of crops, including cassava and rice, and I take immense pride in contributing to our nation's agricultural legacy. Whether it’s sharing a hearty meal of roti and curry with family or enjoying the unique flavors of black pudding and tambrin sour, food is an integral part of our culture that we cherish and celebrate.
Living near the beautiful rivers and lush landscapes of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and biodiversity. The Hackney Canal and surrounding waterways not only provide sustenance but also serve as a reminder of our connection to the land and to each other. I often reminisce about my experiences growing up, and how they shaped my understanding of community and resilience. The spirit of camaraderie amongst my fellow Guyanese, whether at home or in the diaspora, fills me with pride, and I love hearing from those who share a connection to our beautiful homeland, be it in Brazil or beyond.
