Greetings! I’m Navindra Parasram, a proud resident of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region in Guyana. Living amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of this beautiful area, I draw inspiration from our rich culture and heritage. Guyana is bursting with potential, from its emerald forests to the bountiful rivers that provide a wealth of resources like timber and bauxite. However, it’s the warmth of our people and the rich flavors of our cuisine, like pepperpot and roti, that truly represent who we are. As a Guyanese, I cherish our connection to the land and the resilience of our communities, despite the challenges we often face.
Having grown up in the heart of our agricultural landscape, I’ve witnessed both the beauty and struggles of our homeland. It’s disheartening to see that with so much wealth in natural resources, we often grapple with issues of development and governance. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful and committed to seeing my country flourish, for we possess the spirit and potential to create a brighter future. Whether it’s through eco-tourism or local entrepreneurship, I believe we have what it takes to put Guyana on the map for all the right reasons.
Through my journey, I’ve also embraced the lively diaspora community that connects us beyond borders. While some may question our position in the Caribbean, I proudly identify as Guyanese, always ready to share our stories and heritage. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
