About NAVINDRA PERSAUD MOHABIR

About Navindra Mohabir

Greetings! My name is Navindra Mohabir, and I proudly call the lush landscapes of Demerara my home, specifically the vibrant Java Canal No. 1 Polder in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. As a dedicated farmer, I cultivate the rich soil of our land, growing a variety of crops that reflect the agricultural heritage of Guyana. The Pomeroon River flows nearby, a reminder of the abundant waters that nourish our fields and connect our communities. Like many Guyanese, I cherish our cultural roots, and I am always eager to share the flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot to metemgee.

Growing up here, I have witnessed the beauty of our country's landscapes and the resilience of our people. The Amerindian heritage is woven into our identity, and I take pride in the knowledge that "Guyana" means "land of many waters," reflecting our diverse rivers and creeks. It’s important to me that we honor that legacy, not just in words but in how we live and connect with one another. I hope to foster a sense of community and connection, especially with those in the diaspora who share a love for our homeland, whether they reminisce about Grant St. Vincent Lower or the charming villages of the Pomeroon River.

As I share my journey and experiences, I aim to inspire and connect with others who recognize the importance of our cultural heritage while embracing the present. Whether you're a fellow Guyanese or someone curious about our vibrant culture, I welcome you to join me in celebrating our local traditions, exploring the beauty of our landscapes, and creating a lasting bond that transcends borders.
