Greetings! I’m Nazeema Ramsarran, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the lush landscapes, the gentle flow of the Pomeroon River, and the rich traditions that make Guyana unique. From enjoying a plate of pepperpot on special occasions to savoring the sweet delights of black cake during Phagwah, my connection to my roots is as deep as the rivers that run through our land.
Living in the diaspora has its challenges, but it has also allowed me to share the beauty of Guyanese culture with a wider audience. I’ve found joy in connecting with fellow Guyanese abroad, reminiscing about our heritage, and exchanging stories about our beloved homeland. Whether it’s the lively discussions about the best way to pronounce “Bartica” or the hearty laughs we share over our favorite childhood snacks, these moments reaffirm my belief in the strength of our community, no matter where we are.
