Hello! My name is Neelawattie Hitlall, and I proudly hail from the beautiful shores of Regina Essequibo Coast in Guyana. As an ACC Clerk, I devote my days to ensuring smooth financial operations, but my heart remains deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of my homeland. Growing up along the Pomeroon-Supenaam river, I’ve always been captivated by the lush landscapes and the warmth of our communities. Guyana's unique blend of cultures means that every gathering is a true celebration—whether it’s a family lime under the stars or the excitement of a Mashramani parade in Georgetown. Although I currently live abroad, I cherish the connections formed within the diaspora, always reminiscing about the ginips that taste “sweet like rass” and the stories we share about our beloved homeland.
As I navigate life outside of Guyana, I work to bridge the gap between my past and present, advocating for the appreciation of our culture while also embracing new experiences. My journey is a constant reminder that the heart of Guyana beats strongly within me, guiding my path and inspiring my interactions with others.
