Hello! I’m Nelly Thomas, a proud resident of the beautiful Essequibo Coast, where the Pomeroon River flows with stories as rich as our local cuisine. Living along the 219 Public Road in Hampton, I have the privilege of experiencing the vibrant culture that defines Guyana. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying the sweet taste of our homemade cassava bread, my heart is always warmed by the flavors of home.
In my community, we share more than just food; we share a deep connection to our rivers and landscapes. The Pomeroon River, with its winding paths and lush surroundings, is a reminder of our roots and the importance of preserving our natural heritage. I often reflect on how our experiences shape us, especially for those of us connected to the diaspora around the world, from the Caribbean to places as far as India. We may be separated by distance, but our love for Guyana keeps us united.
