Greetings from the vibrant Essequibo Coast! My name is Niaomi Deawnarine, and I proudly call Pomona Housing in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Growing up in a place rich with the fusion of Indian and African cultures, I cherish the unique heritage that shapes Guyanese identity. It's impossible to discuss our nation without acknowledging the significance of both these influences—our festivals, music, and especially our beloved cuisine, like pepperpot and roti, which bring us together as a community.
As a resident of this stunning region, I find joy in the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the serene rivers to the lush landscapes. I often say, “2300 fuh 2 roti an lil piece a duck—it’s just the way we do it!” This reflects not only our culinary delights but also the warmth and hospitality we extend to visitors.
