Greetings! I'm Nickieza Persaud, a proud salesgirl from the beautiful Lake Essequibo Mainstay Lake in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity of Essequibo has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our natural heritage. Whether it's the vibrant markets of Georgetown or the serene waters of the Essequibo River, I find inspiration in the unique sights and sounds of my homeland.
The flavors of Guyanese cuisine are close to my heart. I cherish moments spent enjoying a steaming bowl of dal with oil roti, which many may call paratha, while reminiscing about our rich cultural blend, influenced by our Indigenous, African, and East Indian roots. The stories and traditions of our diverse communities remind me of our common heritage, even as we connect with the wider diaspora across the Caribbean and beyond.
