Welcome! I’m Nicolleta Williams-Ferg, a proud resident of Essequibo Whyaka Mainstay Lake, a picturesque gem in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the vibrant culture of my homeland, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich traditions that define us—whether it’s gathering with family over a steaming pot of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying the thrill of a lively cricket match at the local ground.
As a community member, I cherish the connections we share, especially with our diaspora. Many of us have that moment when we accidentally mix up Guyana 🇬🇾 and Ghana 🇬🇭, and it reminds me of the warmth bridging our global communities. From the Lower Pom River to the bustling streets of Georgetown, it’s the spirit of togetherness that truly resonates with me. I love sharing stories and experiences that highlight our heritage, such as the breathtaking views from the Yaya Landing Akawini or the delicious flavors of our local cuisine.
In my daily life, I strive to uplift the voices of my fellow Guyanese and keep our culture alive, whether through local art, music, or the simple act of sharing a meal. I believe that by celebrating our roots and embracing our unique experiences, we can foster a stronger connection among all Guyanese, no matter where we are in the world.
