About NIGEL DE VAIR

About Nigel De Vair

Greetings! My name is Nigel De Vair, and I hail from the beautiful Essequibo Supenaam Creek in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant region has given me a profound appreciation for our lush landscapes, rich biodiversity, and the warmth of our community. The Pomeroon River, a lifeline of our culture, is a constant reminder of the deep connections we share with our land and each other. From the flavors of our beloved cook-up rice to the vibrant festivals celebrating our diverse heritage, every day offers a chance to embrace the essence of what it means to be Guyanese.

As an operator, I take pride in the skills I’ve developed over the years, contributing to the growth and progress of our local industries. My experiences have not only shaped my professional journey but have also brought me closer to my roots. I deeply cherish the tales passed down through generations, such as the origins of our name "Guyana," derived from an Amerindian word meaning "land of many waters." It reminds me of the resilience and beauty that define our culture, where the history of British Guiana still resonates in our collective memory.

Though I currently reside in the diaspora, the bond with my homeland remains unbreakable. I love connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing stories of our experiences abroad, especially during festive occasions that remind us of home. From the rhythmic beats of our music to the shared laughter over a plate of pepperpot, I am constantly inspired by our ability to maintain our culture while embracing new opportunities. Whether near or far, the spirit of Guyana lives on in my heart.
