Hello! I’m Nirmala Punwasi, a proud Guyanese currently residing in the vibrant community of Barnwell, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a clerk, I enjoy connecting with people and helping them navigate their daily tasks. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the breathtaking sights of the Essequibo River to the delicious flavors of our local cuisine, especially a good plate of pepperpot or roti with curry. Despite some challenges we face back home, including the sometimes muddy waters that can be a stark contrast to the crystal blues seen in neighboring islands, my love for Guyana remains unwavering. I believe in the potential for positive change and hope to see attitudes shift for the better. There’s a certain honesty among our people that I cherish, and I’m grateful for the diaspora connections that remind us of our roots, even when we’re far away.
